The Original Diet
The bible describes the creation of plants, animals and humans in the first book called Genesis. Within those ancient verses can be found the earliest dietary guidelines for humans and animals. It says:
"And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so." (Genesis 1:29-30)
"And you shall eat the herb of the field....In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread" (Genesis 3:18-19)
There are a few notable points to observe about the original diet:
- it was a whole foods, plant-based diet
- it was also for animals not just humans
- it is very environmentally friendly
- it is a humane diet (God never intended for animals and humans to kill each other for food)
Today's nutritional science is demonstrating that such a diet is a far superior diet than those revolving around animal products. Perhaps if more of people would adopt the Genesis diet, we would be healthier, our planet would be better off, and animals would suffer less.
